You see how far into 2007 we are before I have a second to post anything about the holidays. Well, this is the first day I've had off to do this!
We had a GREAT Christmas and New Years and now we're off to a new year. I worked all thru it, so I didn't have time to enjoy it. Next year, I will take time off to sit and stare at the tree!
We started off on December 23rd at Mike's parents house for their annual Terry family get-together. This is where all Mike's Grandma's kids, grand kids etc.. come over and they all swap presents, we play games and EAT of course! hee hee Here we all are sitting in the den. I would be the one taking these wonderful pictures!
That's Will showing of her new drawers she got for Christmas! In the back ground there is Britt and a boy she brought over for the party. I think we scared him off because she ain't really seen him since! HAAAAAAAAA LOVE IT!
This is Mike and his cousin, Kevin (Will's middle son). They cut up the entire evening!
Well...I have tons more pics, which I will give you the web link for at the end of this...you have to wait...
The next day, was Christmas Eve, which meant that we went to MY family's get-together at Mom and Dad's. The best part of the day there...besides the food and presents, was watching Dad and Courtney pick the guitar together. Well, Courtney picked, Dad, well, I'm not sure WHAT he did, but it looked good in pictures! (grin)
We all sat in the den and listened to the joyful noise they created! LOOK AT ASHLEY! HAAAAAAAA Need I say more! hee hee
I love this picture...they're all clean! Ashely was pretty sad all day, Michael had called her from Iraq earlier and he was extremely homesick. She was trying to act bubbly, but was sad. Michael comes back home next month.
Is this not just the best picture? I take GREAT pictures! Notice how he is centered and I framed his face with the hat! Dang, I'm good!
OK...so after there, we went home and recouped. The next day was Christmas Day! YEAY! So, we opened up presents at home, then ran across then ran across the street! Mike's grandma had cooked a HUGE breakfast!
OH yeah, baby. Mike's sister and her family arrived just in time to get BEHIND me in line to eat! hee hee
After that, we opened presents!
We had a great Christmas! As I watched everyone come together over the weekend, I realized alot of us had not really remembered WHY we were together. We were so busy preparing to make it special, we just wasn't into thinking. We just couldn't wait to get together and laugh!
We have always tried to teach the girls that families are THE most important thing in a person's life. ever. When I see our combined family's all celebrate Christmas by actally WANTING to be in each others company and all the wonderful craziness that goes on, I believe those moments will always be with all our kids... to be remembered with smiles and a sense of belonging and knowing they are loved by very many people.
What could be better than that???!
THEEEN, we had New Years Day Dinner...I think all we did was eat for 3 days!
I wanted to add these next few pictures to show those who don't live around here how it's done. The tradition of eating black-eyed peas, collard greens, chow-chow and everything else......one of our better traditions!
Yeah baby! All I know is, I should be exTREMELY rich this year if we go by the consumption of peas and collards! I'm talking LOTTERY, baby! HA
After we feasted until we couldn't breath, the girls helped do dishes...
Then everyone gathered around the dining room table and listened to Grandma Terry talk about when she was a little girl...and she talked...
and talked.............................
and talked, then everyone started sharing stories....
at the end of the day, we, even the dogs, went home stuffed, happy and sleepy!
WHAT COULD BE BETTER THAN THIS??!
Have a great 2007 everyone!!!!
