Our trip to see Ashley in Portsmouth

WOWWWWW! What a trip! We had the absolute BEST time and it was SOOO wonderful seeing Ashley in her surroundings! Shee looked great, hugged great and smiled great!
We first arrived Friday afternoon at her apartment off base. She was in the barracks, but since the CG was running out of room, they have put some of their people in apartments right off base!
So, three girls to a 3 bedroom apartment...here is the den...(is that a keg I see in the corner?) The furniture has been collected and given to them from various sorces, but as each girl moves on, she just leaves it there to be used by the next girl. They have collected alot of furniture!
the stairs, complete with christmast tree lights... the kitchen...inside their fridge...and here's her bedroom...
it was very nice! It sure beat some of the dorms I stayed in, in college!!!
After all that, we, along with her room-mate, went out to eat and then to the motel. Ashley spent the night with us and it was SOOO nice!
The next morning, we went to Langley Air Force Base, where Mike's Dad was stationed at and retired from. I won't bore ya'll with some of the 100 pictures that Ashley took of everything, but I will show ya'll Mike's old house! this is where Mike did alot of his growing up, from what I understand. It is a beautiful base with alot of new buildings.
On his base is an inlet.
What's left of that pier behind them is where Mike and his Grandma used to go fishing!
AND, Mike had to go to the bathroom....
Here is their guard shack.. I thought, at first, how nice it was of Ashley to take a picture of that. When I told her that, she said, "WHAT guard shack, I was taking a picture of the hot guy with the gun". That's my girl! hee
Then, we drove to where I used to live. I wasn't on the Navy base, but it's where we lived and Dad retired from. It's called the Algonquin House and it's in Norfolk and it was SO pretty.
Here is the view from the pool looking out across the chesapeake.
Then, it was back in Ashley's truck to head to Virginia Beach.
We arrived there to see King Neptune!
It was SOOOOOOOO HOT there that day. In the shade it was 98 degrees and there was VERY little shade there!
There was some sort of artsy thing going on. All along the side walk that goes up the beach forEVER was white tents set up with vendors selling their artsy stuff. The girls enjoyed that. We found a crab to take a picture of...
and more shopping....
They had a great time...
I also have to include this picture...many of ya'll know of my love of Elvis....well, we're driving down the road and suddenly, the clouds parted and there was the Hampton Coliseum...where Elvis performed...sniff sniff...sick and all. Bless his heart.
Ain't it beautiful?
After all that and a TON of pictures later, it was suddenly Monday morning. Time to go home. Courtney had spent the night with Ashley in her apartment, so Ashley brought her to the motel before she had to be at work and to tell us Goodbye.
Here are her boots...
her feet look terrible! They have calluses all over them.
Here's the hugs... and there she goes!
Ash is off work till Thursday when she has to stay on her boat for her 24 hours duty, but then she's off till Sunday.
We took her grocery shopping for patrol stuff and fed her real good, so she was happy!
We had a great trip and here are all the rest of the pictures in three different albums...
They're all here....

Have a great day!

Back to work...

Well, my playing is over!
Yesterday was Mike's parents 50th Anniversary. Mike took the pictures from his camera and I haven't had a second to put them on the computer, but I will tonight when I get off work...in between PACKING for our trip on Friday....
When I update this blog tonight, I'll describe it all!
Have I mentioned we're going on a TRIP FRIDAY?!?! ha
I talked to Ashley yesterday and she's sick in the bed with a cold that's going around her boat...she took some cold medicine. I told her to somehow get some vitamin C, but I know that ain't gonna happen. She should be better by Friday anyways.
I did mention our trip for THIS Friday, didn't I??!!
I just remembered that I forgot to go to the grocery store yesterday. Yesterday, Court and I took Mike's Grandma out to eat and then to the Goodwill Store to shop. That's her most FAVORITE store ever! She's 90 years old and gets around like a kid! She gets her buggy and takes off!
That's it for the moment- more soon!
I have to go pack somemore FOR OUR TRIP THIS FRIDAY! heeee

WHEW! From Pumpkintown to Brittany's 21st Birthday!

All I got to say, is what a weekend!
We went to Pumkintown again Friday night, where Dad and I made our Debut. We were awesome! hee
There we are!
YUP!
Here's Mom holding Courtney's guitar...
Here's Court when she finished singing a song...
Can't ya'll just see how much she LOVES it!
Ya'll know what Dad was doing....
and this....
That's his two favorite loves.

Here's Silker and Grandma Terry....
Here's Silker mournfully waiting on SOMEone to ask her to sing...
ANYone!
Finally she's get to!and sings and sings....
HA! I'm just kidding....She and Court did one song together. She wouldn't sing anymore. My throat was, as usualy, full of allergys, so I was unable to perform. Lucky for Courtney! ha
All the pics both dad and I took are on our web albums on the right of your screen.

OK...so then Saturday, I worked and went home and all that. Then Sunday, after work, EVERYONE went to MiMi's Steakhouse to eat for Brittany's Birthday celebration!
P.J. was there and actually set the whole thing up!
His family and all of us was there for a total of 16 people!
Here's our herd....
Here's P.J.'s herd!
I DID HAVE SOME WITTY OBSERVATIONS HERE, BUT DUE TO MY FAMILY THINKING MY SENSE OF HUMOR AIN'T RIGHT, I HAVE DECIDED TO DELETE THAT PART.
IT REALLY WAS A GOOD OBSERVATION THO....

Anyways...Grandma Terry was SOOO out of her element...
BAH-HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
She did NOT like it....
Mike kept wanting me to keep the camera on her so I could take pics of just her!
So...P.J. LOUDLY asks Britt if she wants her Birthday present from him and she said yes, she did. and he gives her a box and....
WHAT????
My baby is ENGAGED!
Britt is engaged to P.J. Tallent!
We knew before hand as did his family. Silker, my parents and all didn't know!

I just want to say that those two are SO happy together. They aren't fancy, materialistic kids who love to spend $$...because they don't have much. But, they enjoy each other, going to dirt track races, walking down mainstreet window shopping while sharing an ice cream cone, watching scarey movies on TV and eating at Burger King. Mike and I feel settled with them getting married. He has a great family and I know they will be happy together.

So, after all that...we ate and went back to Silkers house to have cake and ice cream...we sure do eat alot!!!
Of course, Grandma Terry can eat ANYtime!
She sure don't look her age of 91!
I wanted to put this picture in here, not because of me, Court and Silker, but look at Dad behind us! AHHHH-HAAAAAA
Here is Donna and Dee...I don't have very many pictures of them together, but they sure do look alike!
Then, it's presents time...
We all watch....
This next pic...Mike is inquiring as to WHY the girls make such BIG DEALS out of hair straightners....
Court told him it was a "Gurl-thang" and he wouldn't understand.
That's it!
What a CRAZY WEEKEND! We ALLL wish Ashley could have been here to share all this, but maybe these pictures will show her what a great time we've had!
ya'll don't forget FRIDAY WE ARE HEADED TO VIRGINIA! Britt can't go because she's doing her clinicals at the hospital and can't miss any days. Court's going tho and we're all so excited we just can't stand ourselves!!!
More soon-

Downtown Greenville yesterday

Mike and Courtney decided they wanted to go downtown yesterday...when it was like 100 degrees in the shade...and walk.  Britt was swimming with Peeej's sister and couldn't go, but Donna wanted to come with us, so we went!
So first, we went thru our big, nice hotel downtown, the Hyatt, and they got on the elevator for this pic...
Then, we headed out.  On our main street, there are 9 iron mice for people to find!  Here is the first one...
There are guides to help you find them, but we found 4 yesterday without the guide.
Then, Mike and Courtney decided to sit in the sun for awhile.

Did I mention it was HOT?!  Donna wouldn't let me take her picture.
After a 1/2 mile trek down the street, we ended up at the park...
AND, if you're at the park, you HAVE to stop by Blueberry Frog to get the worlds best all natural, non-fat, sugar free frozen yogurt loaded with fruit and stuff that all healthy... I sat in the sitting area while Courtney ordered. I got the Green-Tea with strawberrys and bananas. YEAH, baby! Court and Donna got chocolate with fruit stuff too.
After that, it was back out to sit in the sun for awhile.  Did I mention it was FREAKING HOT?!
Court decided to look for split ends for awhile...
Then she took the camera and took a pic...a hot guy jogging...
I took the camera back.
Court and Donna decided it was TOO FREAKING HOT to walk the 2 miles back up main street to the van, so Mike went and got it and drove down to pick us up.
That was it!
We are SOOOOO ready to head to Virginia NEXT WEEK to see our baby!  WOOO-HOOOOO!
Everyone have a great day!
